After seemingly stealing the attention of the internet last month, Jaguar previews its all-electric future with the Type 00 concept. With a design language described as “Exuberant Modernism” by the Jaguar team, the Type 00 is a radical departure from the Jags of the past with flush surfaces and an expansive exterior with a fastback profile combined with a long hood that gives way to a new and grille-less face for the brand.
At the sides of the Typee 00 are brass ingots that are laser-etched with the iconic Jaguar “leaper” and they also serve a functional purpose, hiding the vehicle’s rear-facing cameras that deploy when activated. At the boat-tail-shaped rear, a glass-less rear panel is accompanied by strikethrough graphics and a full-width taillight.
Passengers are also surrounded by three hand-finished brass lines that run the full length of the vehicle and the interior is split by a travertine stone that also functions as a plinth and central spine. This element supports the car’s floating seats, which are upholstered in a tactile wool blend.
Built on their new JEA (Jaguar Electrical Architecture) platform, Jaguar is aiming for an EPA-rated range of 430 miles on a single charge and fast charging capability that will add 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes.
The styling of the Type 00 will inform the design of a four-door all-electric GT that will be revealed at the end of 2025.
